In January 2015, the University of Hyderabad received the Visitor’s Award for the Best Central University in India, awarded by the President of India.

Job Title: Senior Research Fellow

Department: Physics

Title of the Project: Subseasonal through Interannual Variability of river discharge and its impact on phytoplankton biomass in the Bay of Bengal

Essential Qualifications: M.Sc. (Ocean and Atmospheric Silences/Meteorology/Physical Oceanography) or M. Tech. (Atmospheric/Ocean sciences)
• At least 2 year research experience related to the Ocean/riverine dynamics and/or the large-scale ocean-atmosphere coupled processes and in the Indo-pacific region and teleconnections as demonstrated by publications in peer reviewed journals such as the JGR, JPO, Climate Dynamics, GRL, etc., which are listed in SCOPUS, or Web of Science.

Desirable Experience:

  • At least one year working experience in using ocean/atmosphere circulation models, or in the analysis of in situ, or model simulation/analysis/reanalysis datasets.
    • Experience in computer programming using Fortran, C, shell programming, etc., in
    Linux/UNIX platforms.
  • Experience in ENSO and IOD impact studies
    • Skill in data analysis using GrADS/Ferret/NCL/CDO/MATLAB.

Duration:Initially for one year, but extendable by another year and four months based on the annual performance of the SRF; everything, including the initial appointment tenure, is
subject to the extension of the project every year.

Salary:Rs. 35,000 per month. The IOE/UoH rules will apply in terms of tax deductions, etc.
