SGGSWU – Overview

Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, a project undertaken by the SGPC is a missionary, charitable and humanitarian institution, seeks to impart inclusive education to learners from all creeds, castes and religions. Sardar Parkash Singh Badal, the former Chief Minister had announced during fourth centenary celebrations of the installation of Sri Adi Granth at Golden Temple that a university dedicated to the ideals enshrined in Sri Guru Granth Sahib would be established. His dream reached fruition when the Punjab Legislative Assembly passed Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Act (Punjab State Act 20/2008) and the SGGSWU commenced its first academic session in July 2011. The University has also secured the membership of AIU (Association of Indian Universities)- Membership No. 614.

There has been no looking back since then. With all kinds of support from the State and the SGPC, the University has made rapid strides, in a short span of time, to emerge as a premier institution of higher learning in North India. Several innovative academic programmes in the fields of emerging technologies, sciences and humanities are being run by the University for the benefit of the students. Major thrust areas of the University are promotion of value based quality education and research. It is a matter of great pride for us that research projects worth more than Rs. 3 crores have been awarded to the University faculty by the national agencies such as the DST, CSIR and DAE etc. A large number of faculty members are actively involved in carrying out research and publish their papers regularly in journals of international and national repute.

Workshops and competitions for the holistic growth of personality of the learners and for providing hands-on training in the use of scientific equipment are structured into the very curriculum, the University offers.

• Please mention Post Applied For and Department on the left-top corner of the envelope containing the application. Separate applications are to be submitted for each Post and Department.
• The filled in application should be accompanied by prescribed application fee (Rs. 500/- for contractual positions and Rs. 1000/- for regular positions) in the form of Crossed Demand Draft drawn in favour of “Registrar, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib” payable at Fatehgarh Sahib.
• Application forms complete in all respects along with photocopies of certificates, list of publications and the prescribed application fee should reach Deputy Registrar (Establishment), Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib140406, on or before May 19, 2025 by 5:00 pm. Applications received after the last date will not be considered.

GENERAL CONDITIONS:

• The number of vacancies shown above is provisional and may vary. The nature of vacancies may change at the time of selection/recruitment. Further, the University reserves the right not to fill any post(s).
• The qualification/Selection Criteria for the faculty positions will be as per latest UGC guidelines with regard to Qualification, Experience and API score etc.
• The candidates who have not cleared UGC-NET may also apply for contractual positions.
• Any application without required certificates/testimonials is liable to be rejected.
• The pay scales and allowances for the Faculty positions will be as per UGC norms/ as decided by University Syndicate from time to time.
• All Degree Certificates should be from recognized Universities. Further, attach conversion
  criteria of CGPA to percentage (%) from the University/Institution/ Board, failing which the University will apply its own conversion criteria.
• The applicant will be responsible for the authenticity of submitted information, other documents and photograph etc. Furnishing of any false information and/or suppression/concealment of facts shall lead to rejection/cancellation of selection/ recruitment.
• Mere fulfilment of the required qualifications and experience etc., does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview/selection.
• The University reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates for interview to a reasonable limit, on the basis of qualifications and experience, higher than those prescribed in this advertisement, and as per merit decided by scrutiny committee.
• Preference will be given to candidates having experience of teaching post graduate classes.
• The University will not be responsible for any postal delay in submission of applications.
• The appointments to contractual posts will be up to May 31, 2026 or end of Academic Session, whichever is earlier.
• The candidate must apply separately for regular and contractual post, if the candidate wants to apply for both posts.
• The application must be accompanied by a demand draft (Rs. 500/- for contractual positions and Rs. 1000/- for regular positions) drawn in favour of Registrar, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, payable at Fatehgarh Sahib.
• The candidates should bring all relevant original certificates and testimonials at the time of interview (Original and one set attested copy).
• Incomplete applications/applications without necessary enclosures/ applications without application fee will be summarily rejected.
• No correspondence, whatsoever will be entertained from the candidates regarding postal delays, conduct and result of interview and reasons for not being called for interview or selection.
• Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification of that candidate for the post.
• The decision of the Competent Authority will be final in the matter of selection.
• Any dispute regarding recruitment will fall under the jurisdiction of District Fatehgarh Sahib.
• No T.A./D.A. will be paid for attending the interview.
