Organization Profile: The Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc), founded by Alladi Ramakrishnan in 1962, is an autonomous national institution for fundamental research in the areas of Theoretical Physics, Mathematics, Theoretical Computer Science and Computational Biology. The Institute is governed by a Governing Board and an Executive Council. Amritanshu Prasad is the director of the institute. Research at IMSc is supported by the Department of Atomic Energy of the Government of India and by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Several faculty also receive research funding from other sources. The Institute has a vibrant academic program, including an active PhD program to which a select group of students are admitted every year. IMSc also supports a large number of scientists at the post-doctoral level and hosts a visiting scientist programme. The Institute organizes several national and international scientific meetings annually. IMSc is also involved in a range of outreach activities for schools, colleges and the general public. The Institute Annual Reports summarize ongoing research and other institute activities.

IMSc invites applications for regular faculty positions as Fellow and Reader in the areas of :
1 . Pure Mathematics
2. Theoretical Physics, particularly quantum matter and information
3. Theoretical Computer Science, also including theory of cryptography, theoretical foundations of AI/ML, and mathematical aspects of quantum computing, and
4. Computational Biology
Essential Qualifications:
- Fellow – E PhD+2 years of postdoc experience
- Reader – F PhD+5 years of postdoc experience
Job Location: Chennai, Tamilnadu
Pay Scale: IMSc being an aided institution under the Department of Atomic Energy, follows Central Government Pay scales and allowances applicable to Central Government employees. Emoluments are at par with similar institutions of the Government of India. Off-campus faculty accommodation is provided to faculty members, subject to availability. House Rent Allowance (HRA) is paid if Institute accommodation is not availed or is unavailable.
