Qualifications :
3.(a) Age Limit: –
The candidates must be minimum of 18 years old as on 01.07.2025. There is no upper age limit.
3.(b) Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) Paper-I (for classes I-V). Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
Or
Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.
Or
Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.).
Or
Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
Provided that a person with D.Ed (Special Education) qualification shall undergo, after appointment an National Council for Teacher Education recognized 6-month special programme in Elementary Education.
Note: –
i. The candidates who have passed D.T.Ed., /D.El.Ed. from States other than Tamil Nadu should submit evaluation certificate to Teachers Recruitment Board for issue of TET certificate.
ii. A Diploma in Teacher Education recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) only shall be considered. However, in case of Diploma in Education (Special Education), a course recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) only shall be considered. (as per para 2 NCTE notification dated 23.08.2010).
iii. A person who is pursuing final year of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Notification amended from time to time shall be eligible for appearing in the TNTET. The candidate will be issued TET certificate only after passing the B.El.Ed. / Diploma and submission of Pass Certificate / Mark Sheets / Provisional Certificate / Degree Certificate to Teachers Recruitment Board.
iv. A person with Diploma in Ed., (Special Education) qualification shall undergo, after appointment, an NCTE recognized 6 months special programme in Elementary Education.
v. The above minimum Education qualification followed as per the service rule and amendment issued vide G.O.Ms.No.204,School Education [EE1(1)] Department, dated:08.11.2023
3(c) Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) Paper- II (for classes VIVIII). (Graduate teacher (Related subjects, Tamil, English and other than Tamil and English languages))
Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
Or
Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.).
Or
Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.
Or
Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.).
Or
Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc. Ed or B.A. Ed./B.Sc. Ed.
Or
Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of B.Ed. (Special Education).
Or
Any candidate having qualified B.Ed. programme, recognized by the NCTE is eligible to appear in TNTET. Moreover, as per existing TET guidelines circulated vide NCTE letter dated 11.02.2011, a person who is pursuing any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Notification dated 23rd August 2010 is also qualified to appear in the TNTET.
Provided that a person with B.Ed (Special Education) qualification shall undergo after appointment an National Council for Teacher Education recognized 6-month special programme in Elementary Education.
Note:-
i. The candidates not having the prescribed qualifications shall not be eligible for appearing TNTET.
ii. A person who is pursuing final year of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Notification amended from time to time shall be eligible for appearing in the TNTET. The candidate will be issued TET certificate only after passing the B.Ed., /Special B.Ed., /Diploma and submission of Pass Certificate / Mark Sheets / Provisional Certificate / Degree Certificate to Teachers Recruitment Board.
iii. The candidates should satisfy their eligibility before applying. They should be personally responsible in case they are not eligible to apply as per the eligibility criteria. It is to be noted that, if a candidate has been allowed to appear for TNTET, it does not imply that the eligibility of the candidate has been verified. It does not vest any right to appointment of the candidate after passing the examination.
iv. Candidates possessing B.E. with B.Ed., of any discipline is eligible to apply for TNTET Paper – II for the optional subjects Mathematics and Science only. v. Reservation Policy:
Relaxation up to 5% in the qualifying marks shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to reserved categories such as BC, BC(M), MBC/DNC, SC, SC(A), ST and Differently Abled Persons Candidates. G.O. (Ms) No.70, School Education (MS) department dated 12.04.2018, G.O. (Ms) No. 12, School Education (EE1(1)) department dated 30.01.2020 and G.O. (Ms) No. 13, School Education (S.E.3(1)) department dated 30.01.2020.

Examination Fee:
The Examination fee is Rs.600/- for each application for all the candidates except SC, SCA, ST and Differently Abled Persons. For SC, SCA, ST and Differently Abled Persons the examination fee for each application is Rs. 300/-. Since the examination fee for each application is different for various categories, candidates are advised to enter the correct Community / Category of Disability. Once the payment is made, it will not be refunded.
How to Apply:
i. Candidates should apply only through online mode in the TRB website http://www.trb.tn.gov.in No other mode of application will be entertained.
ii. Use separate application for Paper-I and Paper-II with separate fees.
iii. Candidates should keep ready their scanned recent color passport size photograph (Jpg/Jpeg/Png format of size 20-60 kb) and signature (Jpg/Jpeg/Png format of size 10-30 KB) separately. The candidates will have to upload their photo image and signature while applying online. The online application uploaded without the candidate’s photograph and candidate’s signature will be summarily rejected. No correspondence in this regard will be entertained.
iv. A valid e-mail id and Mobile Number are mandatory for registration and e-mail id should be kept active till the declaration of results as all future communication will be sent to the registered mobile and registered email id only.
v. All the particulars mentioned in the online application including name of the candidate, Test Paper applied, communal category, date of birth, address and all other fields will be considered as final. Candidates are requested to fill the online application form with utmost care and caution as no correspondence regarding change of details will be entertained.
Incomplete or defective applications shall be summarily rejected.
vi. The online application can be submitted up to 08.09.2025 till 05.00 p.m. after which the link gets disabled.
vii. Candidates are fully responsible for the details given in the online application and documents submitted along with the application. Candidates have to go through all the instructions thoroughly and carefully fill up the application and upload the documents.
viii. The online application without candidate’s photograph and signature and incomplete or defective applications will be summarily rejected.
ix. No representation or correspondence regarding such rejection shall be entertained under any circumstances.
