Organization Profile: Rajiv Gandhi University (formerly Arunachal University) is the premier institution for higher education in the state of Arunachal Pradesh and has completed twenty-five years of its existence. Late Smt. Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India, laid the foundation stone of the university on 4th February 1984 at Rono Hills, where the present campus is located. Ever since its inception, the university has been trying to achieve excellence and fulfill the objectives as envisaged in the University Act. The University got academic recognition under section 2(f) from the University Grants Commission on 28th March 1985 and started functioning from 1st April, 1985. It got financial recognition under section 12-B of the UGC on 25th March, 1994.

Education Qualification:
- (1) Masters’s degree with 55% of marks from an Indian university or equivalent degree from a recognized foreign university.
Desirable Qualification:
(2)For the candidates having a master’s degree, NEt shall remain compulsory along with one publication in NAAS(National Academy of Agricultural Sciences)rated refereed journal for recruitment to the post of assistant professor and equivalent in the discipline in which NET is conducted essentially of NET can waive off for the candidates having Ph.D., degree provided it has been done with course work s prescribed by the UGC ruegulations.2009(and also as per ICAR Letter No.3946)/2010-EQR(Edn.).dated 26th December 2011, issued by ADG(EQR) and the candidate has at least two full-length publications having a NAAS rating of not less than 4.0 on the last date of submission of application. those candidates with Ph.D., degree without course work will not be considered for NET exemption.
(3)further, the awarded degrees to candidates registered for the MPhil/PhD., program prior to July 11, 2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the existing ordinances/by-laws/regulations of the institution awarding the degrees and the Ph.D., candidates shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of the NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of assistant professor or equivalent positions in universities/colleges.
(a) Ph.D. Degree of the candidate awarded in regular mode only.
(b)Evaluation of the Ph.D., degree thesis by at least two external examiners,
(c)candidates had published two research papers out of which at least one is referred journal out of his/her Ph.D. work
(d)The Candidates had presented two Papers in seminars/conferences
(e) open Ph.D. Viva voice of the candidate had been conducted.
