Jogendra Nath Joshi, this temple of education, then named as Phagwara College for Women, came into existence with a secular commitment to spread its light in all directions. The joint efforts of the progressive citizens of Phagwara and the growing faith of people in their vision fructified into the enrollment of merely 70 students in Handa Janj Ghar. Today, the college takes pride in having approximately thirty times the strength,i.e., more than 2000 students on its roll.
