Organization Profile: Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST) is a premier scientific research organization in the north-east region, IASST was conceived and nurtured by the Assam Science Society in its initial years and was inaugurated by Noble Laureate Dorothy C. Hodgkin on 3rd November 1979. Subsequently, it was supported by the state govt. as its only autonomous R&D institute till March 2009. The institute was taken over in March 2009 by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt of India as one of its autonomous R&D Institutes.

- M.Sc. in any Branch of Life Sciences / M. Pharm /MS Pharm / MSC Biotechnology / MSC Zoology

Eligibility: Candidates shall be eligible to apply for admission and registration within the ongoing program of research at IASST, if
(i) He/she has obtained 55% marks in aggregate (Equivalent CGPA on 10 point scale) in the master’s degree examination. A candidate belonging to SC/ST who has obtained 50% marks in aggregate in master degree examination shall also be eligible to apply.
AND
(ii) Qualified valid national PhD research fellowship (CSIR-NET- JRF/UGC-NET- JRF/DBT-JRF/ICMR –JRF)
Or
Qualified CSIR/UGC-NET Category–2 (appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to PhD) / CSIR/UGC-NET Category–3 (admission to PhD only) / Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) with validity of test score.
Monthly emolument: Selected candidates will be required to join the institutional fellowship program of IASST from 1st January 2026. The selected candidates shall be eligible for a monthly fellowship as per the recent circular of DST, Govt. of India on fellowship for Ph.D. The fellowship amount is Rs. 37000 + HRA (as applicable) for JRF.
