Hiring Organization: The brainchild of Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, a successful businessman and philanthropist, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) was conceived in the late 1800s. To this end, Tata set up a provisional committee under the leadership of Burjorji Padshah, an educationist, to come up with a blueprint for the proposed university. The committee drafted a plan which went through several iterations before it was finalized. Tata also endowed a substantial part of his personal wealth for this ambitious project.

Qualification: Ph.D., with First Class or equivalent (in terms of grades, etc.) in the preceding degree, and a good academic record throughout. A minimum of three years teaching/research/professional experience, excluding the experience gained while pursuing Ph.D. In exceptional cases, candidates with less than requisite experience will also be considered.

Pay Scale: Level 12 with basic pay of Rs. 1,01,500/-. After the completion of three
years of service in Level 12, pay will be fixed in level 13A1witha basic pay of Rs.1,31,400/-.
