Organization Profile: After independence, development of the rural sector was considered the primary concern of the Government of India. In 1949, with the appointment of the Radhakrishnan University Education Commission, imparting of agricultural education through the setting up of rural universities became the focal point. Later, in 1954 an Indo-American team led by Dr. K.R. Damle, the Vice-President of ICAR, was constituted that arrived at the idea of establishing a Rural University on the land-grant pattern of USA.

Remuneration: The positions are purely contractual and temporary in nature. Remuneration will be paid at the rate of Rs. 650/- per hour with a maximum of Rs. 30,000/- per month for candidates fulfilling the eligibility of Assistant Professor in the discipline OR Rs. 550/- per hour with a maximum of Rs. 25,000/-per month for the candidates possessing Master’s degree only in the concerned discipline.
Qualification:
Doctorate Degree in the subject concerned. Master’s degree in the relevant discipline with at least 60% marks or equivalent in the point scale system. The NET/SLET will be an essential qualification in the discipline where NET/SLET is conducted by ICAR/UGC/CSIR or any other Central/ State Govt. agency. In case where candidate with Ph.D’s. degree or NET/SLET is not available, the essential qualification shall be first class M.Sc. degree in related discipline.
