All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bilaspur (Himachal Pradesh), an institute of National Importance with autonomous functioning under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), was conceived under Phase V of the ‘Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY)’ with the objective of correcting imbalances in the availability of affordable/reliable tertiary level healthcare in the country.

The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of AIIMS, Bilaspur on October 03, 2017. Subsequently on January 21, 2019, Hon’ble Union Health Minister Shri J P Nadda and Hon’ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Jai Ram Thakur performed the Bhoomi Pujan. The project is to be developed in 3 phases over an area of 247 acres. Phase I of the project with 750 beds, and 41 speciality and super speciality departments has been completed in a record time of 3 yrs. The institute provides advanced tertiary care facilities like 64 ICU beds, 20 modular Operation Theatres, CT, MRI, digital radiography, Cath lab and dialysis facilities in its Phase-I.

Essential Qualifications: As prescribed under Annexure-A of the official notification. The candidate must be registered with the State Medical Council, MCI or NMC. Candidates holding a DNB qualification in broad specialties or super specialties must produce documentary evidence of DNB equivalence with MD, MS, DM or MCh, as per the MCI New Delhi notification dated 31-10-2018.

Experience: Experience requirements vary by post and specialty and are detailed in Annexure-A of the official notification. Candidates who underwent DNB training at institutions covered under para 2(c) and (d) of the MCI notification need an additional 4 to 5 years of experience from an MCI recognised or permitted institution for equivalence.

Age Limit: For Professor, the age limit is 58 years for direct recruitment, 56 years for deputation, and 70 years for retired faculty. For Associate Professor and Assistant Professor, the age limit is 50 years, with 70 years permitted for retired faculty applying for Associate Professor. Age relaxation is available as follows, SC/ST candidates get 5 years, OBC candidates get 3 years, Central Government servants get 5 years, and PwBD candidates get 10 years relaxation along with benefits as per DoPT guidelines. No age relaxation is available to EWS candidates or to SC/ST/OBC candidates applying against unreserved vacancies.

Salary Details: Professor will be placed at Pay Matrix Level 14A with basic pay of Rs. 1,68,900 to Rs. 2,20,400. Associate Professor will be placed at Pay Matrix Level 13A1 with basic pay of Rs. 1,38,300 to Rs. 2,09,200. Assistant Professor will be placed at Pay Matrix Level 12 with basic pay of Rs. 1,01,500 to Rs. 1,67,400. All posts carry usual allowances as per the 7th CPC, plus NPA for candidates possessing a medical qualification.
