Job Title/Designation:  Lab attendant – Kitchen (Food Production Lab)

Job Summary:

The Lab Attendant is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and operational readiness of the kitchen laboratories in a hotel management college. The role supports faculty and students during practical sessions and ensures all kitchen tools, ingredients, and equipment are properly maintained and available.

Job Profile

  • Assist faculty and students during practical cooking sessions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of kitchen labs in compliance with food safety standards.
  • Prepare and arrange ingredients, utensils, and equipment prior to classes.
  • Ensure proper storage and labeling of food items and raw materials.
  • Monitor inventory levels and report shortage stock to faculty.
  • Handle basic maintenance and cleaning of kitchen equipment.
  • Dispose of waste as per institutional and hygiene protocols.
  • Support in setting up and clearing down practical lab sessions.
  • Ensure gas, electrical equipment, and water lines are safely used and shut down when not in use.
  • Assist in receiving and storing supplies.
  • Maintain log books/registers as per departmental requirements.

Qualification mandate required as per the following

  • Minimum 10th pass OR Diploma or certificate in food production or related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in a kitchen, hotel, or educational institute is an advantage.

Working Conditions

  • Work primarily in kitchen labs, which may involve exposure to heat, odors, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Requires standing for extended periods and lifting heavy items.
  • Working hours aligned with class schedules and occasional extra hours during events or exams.

Skills Required: Strong Physically fit and able to lift and move kitchen supplies and equipment. Punctual, responsible and detail oriented. Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively. Basic knowledge of kitchen tools, ingredients, and food safety.

Experience: 3- 10 years
