Project Title: ‘Astroglial specific biotin deprivation in aging brain influences
mitophagy and mitochondrial biogenesis’
Qualifications:
- First class in Masters (M.Sc. or M. Tech.) in any branch of life sciences / biological sciences. However, the applicants with M. Sc., as qualifying degree must have two years of research experience.
Project/ Work Task:
- Major aim of this project is to elucidate the significance glial-neuron metabolic relationship during aging with special reference to BCAA, lipid and mitochondrial oxidative metabolism. Furthermore, the status and mechanism of mitochondrial turnover pathways such as mitophagy as well as the association between organelles will be deciphered.

- The major role of the SRF will be planning, execution and analysis of cell biology and biochemistry experiments. Experience in both standard and advanced methods in biochemistry and cell biology are required to carry out this project. Practical knowledge in Western blot, Cell culture, Histology, Imaging, Flow cytomtery, with theoretical knowledge on HPLC and LC-MS will be an advantage. Experience in the use of basic
bioinformatics tools will be a plus. Thus, the SRF is expected to be independent and willing to do PhD with the responsibility to publish his/her research findings. Furthermore, the SRF will collaborate with other labs at local as well as national levels. - The SRF is expected to train/supervise the students from Bachelor-level to Master-level.
Pay Scale:Rs. 35,000 per month plus HRA (24%)
