Summary:
The Dean of Academics is a senior administrative position responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the academic programs within the university to play a crucial role in ensuring academic excellence, faculty development, curriculum development, and student success. The Dean Academics collaborates with other administrative leaders, department heads, and faculty members to uphold the University’s educational standards and strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
- Provide visionary leadership and strategic planning for the academic department to align with the University’s mission and objectives.
- Oversee the implementation and evaluation of academic policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Foster a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Provide guidance and support for faculty in their professional development, research, and teaching methodologies.
- Conduct performance evaluations and promote faculty recognition and rewards based on merit.
- Work with faculty and department heads to develop and review curriculum offerings that meet the needs of students and industry demands.
- Ensure that academic programs align with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
- Encourage the integration of technology and innovative teaching methods in the curriculum.
- Implement mechanisms for assessing and improving the quality of academic programs.
- Analyze data to identify areas of improvement and develop action plans for enhancement.
- Collaborate with faculty to ensure effective and timely program reviews and updates.
- Oversee student academic support services, including tutoring, advising, and academic counseling.
- Monitor student performance and retention rates, implementing initiatives to enhance student success.
- Address academic-related grievances and disciplinary issues when necessary.
- Collaborate with the financial department to create and manage the academic budget effectively.
- Allocate resources appropriately to support academic programs and faculty needs.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and work closely with accreditation bodies for program accreditation and reaccreditation.
- Keep abreast of changes in educational regulations and policies and ensure adherence to legal requirements.
- Engage with external stakeholders, including industry partners, community organizations and educational institutions, to foster collaboration and identify opportunities for academic growth.
Applicant Profile:
- A doctoral degree Ph.D. is must.
- Significant experience in academic administration, including leadership roles in higher education.
- Proven track record of promoting academic excellence and faculty development.
- In-depth knowledge of curriculum design, assessment, and accreditation processes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
- Understanding of emerging trends in higher education and willingness to adapt to change.
