The Indian Maritime University came into being through an Act of Parliament (Act 22) on 14th November 2008 as a Central University and is poised to play a key role in the development of a trained human resource for the maritime sector. 14th November is celebrated as ‘IMU Day’ every year.

Qualification :

• Faculty (Marine)
  • Essential:
    a) MEO Class – 1 (Motor) Certificate of Competency issued by the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), Government of India.
    b) Sailing experience for a minimum period of six months at the Management level within the meaning of the STCW Convention, as amended.
    c) VICT / TOTA Course Certificate
  • Desirable:
    a) Six months of teaching/training experience in Maritime Training Institute(s) in India
    b) AECS and TSTA Course Certificate.
• Faculty (Electronics Engineering)
  • Essential
    a) UG degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering discipline
    b) PG or Integrated PG degree in Electronics Engineering or a relevant Engineering discipline.
    c) PLC and Automation Control as a subject in the UG or PG level
    d) VICT / TOTA Course Certificate
  • Desirable:
    a) A Pass in the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or a similar test accredited by the UGC like the State Level Eligibility Test (SLET/SET) in relevant discipline.
    b) AECS and TSTA Course Certificate
    c) Research Publications such as Book/Research Papers as per UGC Norms.
  • 2 Years of Teaching experience in UG and/or PG programs in relevant subjects
• Faculty (Mathematics)
  • Essential:
    Good academic record with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade at both UG and PG level or at Integrated PG level in a relevant discipline.
  • Desirable:
    (a) A pass in National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or a similar test accredited by the UGC like the State Level Eligibility Test (SLET/SET) in the relevant discipline.
    (b) PhD in a relevant discipline.
    (c) Research publications such as books/ Research papers/policy papers as per the UGC norms.
  • Essential: 2 Years of Teaching experience in UG and/or PG programs in the relevant
    subjects
• Faculty (Nautical Science)
  • Essential:
    a) Director General (Shipping) recognized Master (Foreign Going) Certificate of Competency:
    b) Sailing experience for a minimum period of six months at the Management level within the meaning of the STCW Convention, as amended.
    c) VICT / TOTA Course Certificate
  • Desirable:
    a) Six months of teaching/training experience in Maritime Training Institute(s) in India.
    b) TSTA Course Certificate
• Faculty (General Management)
  • Essential:
    a) Graduation from a recognized University with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade
    b) M.Com/MBA in General Management with Marketing or Equivalent from a recognized University with at least 55% marks or its equivalent.
    Desirable: A pass in National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or a similar test accredited by the UGC like the State Level Eligibility Test (SLET/SET) in relevant discipline. PhD in a relevant discipline.
    a) Research publications such as books/ Research papers/policy papers as per the UGC norms.
• Faculty (Computer Science – Computer Language & ECommerce)
  • Essential:
    a) Graduation from recognized University with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade
    b) MCA/M. Tech/M.Sc. Computers in Computer Science or IT or equivalent from a recognized University with at least 55% marks or its equivalent.
  • Desirable
    a) A pass in National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or a similar test accredited by the UGC like the State Level Eligibility Test (SLET/SET) in the relevant discipline.
    b) PhD in a relevant discipline.
    c) Research publications such as books/ Research papers/policy papers as per the UGC norms.
  • 2 Years of Teaching experience in UG and/or PG programs in relevant subjects
• Faculty (Transportation and Logistics)
  • Essential:
    a) Graduation from a recognized University with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade
    b) M.Com/MBA in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or Transportation Management or International Business or equivalent from a recognized University with at least 55% marks or its equivalent.
  • Desirable
    a) A pass in National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like the State Level Eligibility Test (SLET/SET) in the relevant discipline.
    b) PhD in a relevant discipline.
    c) Research publications such as books/ Research papers/policy papers as per the UGC norms

Job Location: Chennai, Tamilnadu

Period of Contract Initially for a period of 6 months and extendable based on performance and requirement.
