Institution Profile :Horticulture has emerged as the backbone and a key growth engine of the agricultural sector in Rajasthan. Blessed with diverse and favorable agro-climatic conditions, the state holds immense potential for cultivation of a wide range of horticultural crops, including fruits, vegetables, spices, seeds, and medicinal plants. Rajasthan is among the leading producers of important spice crops such as cumin, coriander, ajwain, fenugreek, fennel, dill seed, and henna. The large-scale production of these crops has generated substantial employment opportunities and has played a vital role in the economic upliftment of the state. Despite its vast scope and growing potential, horticulture, as a specialized discipline, has not received due emphasis in agricultural education in the past. With the vision to rejuvenate and strengthen the horticulture sector, the first College of Horticulture was established at Durgapura, Jaipur, in September 2023 under SKNAU Jobner. The college offers the undergraduate programme B.Sc. (Hons.) in Horticulture and is now commencing the third batch of B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture. Under the able and dynamic leadership of Dean, College of Horticulture, within a very short span of time (since its establishment in 2023), the college has made commendable progress with securing grants of worth 5 crores in National & International projects, and also funds of worth 3 crores from Govt. of Rajasthan for infrastructure development.
