Required Educational Qualifications for Faculty Positions:

• Ph.D. in the relevant or equivalent discipline, and first class in the preceding degrees (Bachelor’s degree onwards)
• All degrees from an Institute/University recognized by UGC/AICTE/AIU/GOI
• If first class is not mentioned, at least 6.5 CGPA (10-point scale) or 60% marks in aggregate, with no conversion between CGPA and percentage
• If the CGPA is on a scale other than 10-point, a first class certificate from the authorized signatory (not the Mentor/Supervisor/Head of Department) must be attached, or the CGPA may be equivalently converted to a 10-point scale
• For Engineering: B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent and M.E./M.Tech. or equivalent in the relevant discipline; candidates with a Ph.D. directly after B.Tech./B.E. are also considered if they have first class at Bachelor’s level
• For Mathematics: first class both at UG and PG level (60% or 6.5/10 CGPA) with Ph.D. in the relevant discipline
• No distinction between external and internal candidates in qualification and experience requirements

• Assistant Professor Grade II (Pay Level 10): none; desirable one publication in an SCI journal

• Assistant Professor Grade I (Pay Level 12): 3 years after Ph.D., or 6 years total (not counting Ph.D. enrolment period) after M.Tech.; 2 papers in SCI journals outside Ph.D. work; one ongoing sponsored project for candidates from academia; two experiments or computational projects added to teaching laboratories where appropriate
• Associate Professor (Pay Level 13A2): 6 years after Ph.D., or 9 years total (not counting Ph.D. enrolment period), of which 3 years after Ph.D.; three years at the level of Assistant Professor with AGP of Rs. 8,000 or equivalent; 4 papers in SCI journals after Ph.D.; one Ph.D. guided as sole or principal supervisor plus one continuing; two projects ongoing, or one ongoing plus one completed; academic outreach equivalent to two self-financed short-term courses
• Only experience on a regular basis in applicable pay scales is counted; part-time, daily wage, ad hoc, visiting, guest, fixed remuneration, contractual and temporary experience is not counted

Pay Scale/Pay Level: As per the 7th CPC, as given below. Higher starting pay may be offered to deserving candidates on the Selection Committee’s recommendation, with BoG approval.
