Organization Profile: The Coimbatore Diocese Society which has established a number of educational intuitions in and around Coimbatore district in the cause of serving humanity chose to fulfill a long felt need to open a new college for the benefit of boys and girls. The 150th year celebration of the Diocese and the Silver Jubilee of the Episcopal Ordination of the then President of the society, Most Rev. Dr. M. AMBROSE, D.D.,D.C.L., becorne the memorable occasion to fulfill the genuine wishes of the community by favoring the establishment of this co-educational institution in the city. The Tamil Nadu Government accorded permission to start this new college in G.O. No. 382 dated 23-7.97, in the style to function as “BISHOP AMBROSE COLLEGE” and It obtained affiliation from Bharathiar University. The College was formally inaugurated by His Excellency, the then Bishop of Coimbatore on 3rd Novernber, 1997. Initially it functioned in a separate block at Carmel Garden School campus. After obtaining continuation of provisional affiliation for the academic year 1998-99, the college moved to its own buildings built in a spacious campus at College Nagar, near Sungam by-pass Road, in January 1999. A new Administrative block and a Spacious Computer Lab were blessed by Most.Rev. Dr. Thomas Aquinas, Bishop of Coimbatore on 4th August 2006.
