The Birla Institute of Technology & Science, BITS Pilani, is an all-India Institute for higher education. The primary aim of BITS is to “train young men and women able and eager to create and put into action such ideas, methods, techniques, and information”. The Institute is a dream come true of its founder, the late Mr G.D. Birla, an eminent industrialist, a participant in the Indian freedom struggle, and a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi. What started in the early 1900s as a small school has blossomed into a set of colleges for higher education, ranging from the humanities to engineering. In 1964, all of these colleges amalgamated to form a unique Indian university of international standing, christened the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, known to many as BITS, Pilani.

Job Title: Academic Associate (on an entry and senior-level basis panel discretion)

ROLE OVERVIEW:

  • Instructional support: Support faculty members with tutorials, and the preparation and evaluation of assignments and assessments, including grading and the coordination and management of multi-section courses. Contribute to the preparation of instructional material and the implementation of pedagogical innovations.
  • Laboratory management and support: Support faculty members with laboratory instruction, assessment of laboratory work, viva sessions, and demonstrations. Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols, manage equipment and resources, guide students during experiments, and contribute to the design and development of new experiments and laboratory modules.

Eligibility
  • Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE)- M.E. / M.Tech. in EEE or equivalent
  • Computer Science & Information Systems (CSIS)- M.E. / M.Tech. in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Economics and Finance- Master’s degree, such as M.A. or M.Sc., or equivalent in Economics/Finance/Statistics/ Mathematics/Data Science OR MBA

COMPENSATION AND OTHER BENEFITS:

An Academic Associate shall be offered a starting salary of Rs. 9,00,000/- per annum (may vary basis experience) which includes Dearness Allowance applied in accordance with prevailing Institute norms and revised periodically, House Rent Allowance (HRA) of 12.5%, On-campus accommodation is not provided. Provident Fund and Gratuity is applicable in accordance with Institute norms and an annual increment is aligned with the policy applicable to Non-Tenured Faculty.

  • Sponsored higher education opportunities: They may be supported to pursue part-time M.E. or Ph.D. programmes at BITS Pilani while continuing in full-time employment, after completing at least two years of service.
