Institution Profile: Kendriya Vidyalaya Eastern Air Command was established on February 1, 1966, under the able leadership of Mr. P.C. Jain, its first Principal. The school was declared a “Model School” in 1994 and a “Smart School” in 1997. In 1966, there was only one section for each class, from grades 6 to 11. In 1968, primary classes from 1 to 5 began. This was followed by two and three sections. Currently, there are three sections per grade. The school opened in 1966 on two separate campuses. The secondary and senior secondary classes were held in Nongthemmai, while the primary classes were held in Forest Haj near Police Bazar. In the early years, the school was located in a civilian area. In 1979, the school was relocated to Eastern Air Command in Upper Shillong.
