Institution Profile: The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora, J&K has been established through an Act No. XVIII of 2005 dated: 7th November 2005 passed by J&K State Legislature and notified by the State Government, through Jammu & Kashmir Government Gazette dated: 11-11-2005. While the university started functioning in November, 2005 the teaching programme was started in July 2006. The Chancellor of the University is the Lieuteutant Governor of Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and the executive authority of the University is its Executive Council with the Vice Chancellors of University of Jammu, University of Kashmir and Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University as members. The KAST posts are split as Software Engineering (ST1-1, EWS-1), Solar PV (RBA-1, EWS-1), Food Technology (UR-1), Mechanical Engineering (OBC-1) and E&CE (UR-1). Reservation is as per Government of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir rules, and 4% horizontal reservation is provided for PwD candidates.

Eligibility Test Requirement: Candidates must have NET conducted by UGC or CSIR, or a similar test accredited by UGC such as SLET/SET conducted by J&K. Candidates with a PhD in the concerned subject awarded as per UGC Regulations, 2009 are exempted from NET/SET/SLET. Candidates with a PhD from a foreign university ranked in the top 500 by QS, THE or ARWU are also eligible and must produce an AIU equivalence certificate.
