About Organization :
The University of Jammu and Kashmir was founded in the year 1948. In the year 1969 it was bifurcated into two full-fledged Universities: University of Kashmir at Srinagar and University of Jammu at Jammu. The University of Kashmir is situated at Hazratbal in Srinagar. It is flanked by the world famous Dal Lake on its eastern side and Nigeen Lake on the western side. The Main Campus of the University spread over 247 acres of land is divided into three parts – Hazratbal Campus, Naseem Bagh Campus and Mirza Bagh Campus (serving residential purpose). Additional land has been acquired at Zakura near the main campus for further expansion of the University. The tranquil ambience of the Campus provides the right kind of atmosphere for serious study and research.
Over the Years University of Kashmir has expanded substantially. It has established Satellite Campuses at Anantnag (South Campus) , Baramulla (North Campus) and Kupwara (Kupwara Campus) to make higher education more accessible to people living in remote areas of Kashmir valley. Qualification:
- For the Posts of Assistant Professor unless mention elsewhere in this Advertisement:
A Masters degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. - For the Post/s of Assistant Professor, Bio-Informatics:
Good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the PG level in Bioinformatics/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Clinical Biochemistry from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University. - For the posts of Assistant Professor available in Centre of Central Asian Studies (Archaeology):
A Master‟s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in Culture & Archaeology/ Archaeology or History with PG Diploma in Archaeology. - For the post/s of Assistant Professor available in the Centre for Distance & Online Education (Home Science):
Good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the PG level in Home Science with specialization in Human Development from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University. - For the Post/s of Assistant Professor, Lifelong Learning:
Good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the PG level in Lifelong Learning/ Social Work/ Sociology/Home Science (Extension & Communication)/ Rural Development from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University. - For the post/s of Assistant Professor available in the Department of Geo-Informatics:
Good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the PG level in Geoinformatics/ GIS/Remote Sensing or Applied Geology with PG Diploma in Remote Sensing from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University. - For the post/s of Assistant Professor available in the Home Science:
Good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the PG level in Home Science with specialization in Dietetics & Clinical Nutrition from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University - For the post of Assistant Professor available in the Iqbal Institute of Culture & Philosoply:
Good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the PG level in Urdu/ Philosophy from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University. Further, the candidates must possess substantiated research in Iqbal Studies. Candidates with Ph.D in Iqbal Studies will be given preference.ii) NET shall be the compulsory requirement for those with Post-Graduate Degrees only. But, in respect of candidates who belong to UT of J&K and are not NET qualified, SET shall be the compulsory requirement.
iii) The candidates without NET or SET having Ph.D Degree in the concerned subject in compliance of the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for award of Ph.D Degree) Regulations, 2009, with amendments from time to time shall be exempted from the requirement of minimum eligibility conditions of NET/SET.
Provided, the candidates registered for the Ph.D. programme prior to July 11, 2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances/Bye-laws/Regulations of the Institution awarding the degree and appointment to Assistant Professor or equivalent position/s subject to the fulfillment of the following conditions :-
a) The Ph.D. degree of the candidate has been awarded in a regular mode;
b) The Ph.D. thesis has been evaluated by at least two external examiners;
c) An open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate has been conducted;
d) The Candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work, out of which at least one is in a refereed journal;
e) The candidate has presented at least two papers based on his/her Ph.D work in conferences/seminars sponsored/funded/supported by the UGC / ICSSR/ CSIR or any similar agency.
The fulfillment of these conditions is to be certified by the Registrar or the Dean (Academic Affairs) or Dean Research of the University concerned.
Note: A candidate with Ph.D degree obtained from a foreign university/ institution with a ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by any one of the following: (i) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) (ii) the Times Higher Education (THE) or (iii) the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai) shall also be eligible.
