Organization Profile: The Indian School of Mines was formally opened on 9th December 1926, by Lord Irwin, the then Viceroy of India to address the need for trained manpower related to mining activities in the country with disciplines of Mining and Applied Geology. In 1967 it was granted the status of a deemed to be university under Section 3 of UGC Act, 1956. Since its establishment, IIT(ISM) has undergone considerable expansion of its activities, and presently it can be considered as a total technology education institute.

Title of the project: Deployment of Friction-Stir-Welded Al–Cu Interconnects for Shape Engineered Structural Li-ion Battery Packs for Next-Generation Electric Vehicles
Tenure of Project: 3 Years (The candidate will be allowed for PhD enrolment as per the
institute rules)
Job Description (in maximum of 100 words):
The candidate will work on the development and characterization of friction stir welded (FSW) lithium-ion battery modules for electric vehicle applications. Responsibilities include synthesis and characterization of battery-related materials, electrochemical testing, microstructural analysis, and evaluation of electrical and thermal performance of welded joints. The candidate will conduct laboratory experiments, analyse data using scientific software, maintain research documentation, and assist in prototype fabrication and validation. Prior experience in electrochemical techniques (CV, EIS, GCD, LSV), nanomaterial synthesis, and advanced material characterization (XRD, FESEM, XPS, TEM, FTIR, TGA) will be advantageous. Strong teamwork, research aptitude, and scientific writing skills are essential
Essential Qualification:
- Post Graduate Degree in in Mechanical/ Electronics/ Computer Science and M.Sc. in Chemistry/ Material Science/ Nano Technology/ Energy Sciences OR Graduate/ Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through a process described through any one of the following:
(i) Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests- CSIRUGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE.
(ii) The Selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MOE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISC, IISER, NISER etc
Desirable Qualification : M.Tech / PhD in Mechanical, CSE, Electronics or M.Sc/PhD in chemistry, Materials Science, nanotechnology and energy sciences or allied fields. Candidates should have knowledge in energy storage materials, lithiumion batteries, electrocatalysis, supercapacitors, and electrochemical characterization.
Fellowship:
- ₹37,000/- per month (for the first two years) and the Fellowship 42000/- in third year will be awarded after successful assessment(for the third year)
