Organization Profile: The Indian School of Mines was formally opened on 9th December 1926, by Lord Irwin, the then Viceroy of India to address the need for trained manpower related to mining activities in the country with disciplines of Mining and Applied Geology. In 1967 it was granted the status of a deemed to be university under Section 3 of UGC Act, 1956. Since its establishment, IIT(ISM) has undergone considerable expansion of its activities, and presently it can be considered as a total technology education institute.

Job Title:

Title of the project: Natural Hydrogen hotspots mapping and characterization in India through the lens of geoscientific data, and artificial intelligence technology

Tenure of Project: The position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project, which is sanctioned for a period of 2 years or the end of the project, whichever is earlier. Selected candidates may be considered to the PhD program at IIT(ISM) Dhanbad as per institute norms.

Job Description :  The candidate is expected to contribute primarily to natural hydrogen mapping and characterization integrating remote sensing, geological and geophysical datasets. JRF is also expected to do field survey for sampling, experimental analysis, data interpretation and report/article writing or any other work assigned by the Pl.

Essential Qualification:

  • M.Sc./M.Sc. Tech./M.Tech. in Applied Geophysics/Applied Geology/Petroleum Exploration/BS-MS in Earth Science or Equivalent degree with 60% above or equivalent CGPA. The candidates must have qualified GATE/CSIR-UGC NET.

Desirable Qualification : Candidates with some experience in geological and geophysical modelling, field survey experience and AI/ML applications in geoscience will be given preference.

Fellowship:

  • Rs. 37,000/- plus HRA as per the institute norms in case hostel accommodation is not
    available.
