Organization Profile: The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), Government of India set up The Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) through an Act of Parliament (RGIPT Act 2007). Essential Qualifications: A PhD with first class or equivalent grade at the preceding degree, in the appropriate branch, with a very good academic record throughout, is required for all posts. Candidates applying for engineering disciplines must also hold a B.Tech degree in the relevant discipline. Candidates applying for Humanities & English must hold a PhD in English, with economics, psychology, and sociology as mandatory subjects in their bachelor’s degree.
Age Limit: The upper age limit for Assistant Professor (Academic Pay Level 10) is 35 years, as on 31st August 2026. Age relaxation may be considered in exceptional cases, and reserved category candidates will get relaxation as per Government of India guidelines.
Salary Details: Assistant Professor (Grade-II) carries Academic Pay Level 10 (Rs. 57,700–98,200), with an entry basic pay of Rs. 70,900 per month, plus Dearness Allowance and Transport Allowance as per Central Government rules. Suitable accommodation may be provided on campus, or permissible HRA otherwise, along with LTC, medical reimbursement, children’s education allowance, telephone bill reimbursement, and a cumulative professional development allowance (CPDA) for books and conferences.
