Organization Profile: The plan to establish IIT Jammu, along with four other IITs in Chhattisgarh, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala, was announced by the Hon’ble Finance Minister in the Union Budget 2014-15. The Indian Institute of Technology Jammu was inaugurated on 6th August 2016, and welcomed the first batch of students into the campus in Paloura, Jammu. In the initial phases, the establishment of IIT Jammu was done under the mentorship of IIT Delhi. In 2018, IIT Jammu shifted its primary operations to the 400 acres of lush green land in Jagti village, just outside Jammu city, provided by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir for establishing its main campus. Essential Qualifications: Candidates need a Ph.D in a relevant area with first class or equivalent in the preceding degrees, along with a consistently good academic record throughout.

Experience: For Professor, candidates need a minimum of ten years of Teaching, Research, or Industrial experience, of which at least four years should be at the level of Associate Professor in IITs or similar institutes of national importance. For Associate Professor, candidates need a minimum of six years of Teaching, Industry, or Research experience, of which at least three years should be at the level of Assistant Professor in an academic institution. For Assistant Professor Grade-I, candidates need a minimum of 3 years of relevant industrial, research, or teaching experience, excluding the experience gained while pursuing Ph.D. For Assistant Professor Grade-II, candidates satisfying all criteria other than the post Ph.D experience criteria for Grade-I may be appointed with appropriate pay based on post-doctoral experience.

Age Limit: The upper age limit will be applicable as per the statutory relaxations available for various categories as per Government of India norms.

Salary Details: Professor posts carry Academic Pay Level 14A with a minimum basic pay of Rs. 1,59,100/- per month. Associate Professor posts carry Academic Pay Level 13A2 with a minimum basic pay of Rs. 1,39,600/- per month. Assistant Professor Grade-I posts carry Academic Pay Level 12 with a minimum basic pay of Rs. 1,01,500/- per month. Assistant Professor Grade-II posts may be placed at entry level in Academic Pay Level 10 with a minimum basic pay of Rs. 70,900/- per month, moving to Academic Level 11 after completion of one year post Ph.D experience. HRA and other allowances will be as per Central Government Rules.
