Organization Profile: The history of the IIT system dates back to 1946 when a committee was set up by Hon’ble Sir Jogendra Singh, Member of the Viceroy’s Executive Council, Department of Education, Health and Agriculture to consider the setting up of Higher Technical Institutions for post war industrial development in India. The 22 member committee headed by Sri N.R.Sarkar, in its report, recommended the establishment of four Higher Technical Institutions in the Eastern, Western, Northern and Southern regions, possibly on the lines of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, with a number of secondary institutions affiliated to it.

Job Title: Junior Research Fellowship – Research

Project Title: Electrodes for charge storage by (i) electrochemical deposition of transition metal oxide on carbon cloth and (ii) electrospun fiber from lignin based sources with subsequent carbonization(OIL)

Department having vacancy: Chemical Engineering

Qualification:  

  • Master degree in Chemical Engineering / Energy Engineering / Physics / Chemistry / Material Science / Ceramic Technology. Selected through a process described through any one of the following: a. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC, NET, Including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE. b. The selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR. IIT, IISc. IISER, NISER etc.
  • Electrode fabrication for battery/supercapacitor. N.B. A small relaxation in age limit may be considered, in the case of applicants who are suitably qualified and experienced, on the recommendation of the selection committee.

Job Location: Kharagpur, West Bengal

Pay Scale:  Upto 37000 (depending on qualification and experience)
