About the Institute: St. Francis Institute of Management & Research (SFIMAR) was established in 2002 by “The Society of the Congregation of Franciscan Brothers” to impart quality education in the field of Business Management. It is recognized by AICTE, New Delhi, and has been granted permanent affiliation by the University of Mumbai. SFIMAR is Grade ‘A+’ (Second Cycle) accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and is recognized under Sections 2 (f) & 12 (B) of the UGC Act 1956. Job Title/Designation: Training and Placement Officer.
Nature of Duty: One of a placement officer’s daily responsibilities is to assist students or candidates in finding appropriate employment or internships. This includes establishing connections with businesses, planning hiring activities, offering career counselling, and overseeing the entire placement procedure. To serve as an intermediary between academic institutions and the workforce.
- Engaging with the industry and networking: Establishing and preserving connections with businesses. This calls for consistent communication, participation in industry gatherings, and knowledge of the hiring requirements of different businesses.
Finding employment and internship openings: Communicating open vacancies to pupils and keeping track of them.
Organizing recruitment events: Planning career fairs, company presentations, and internal and external recruitment drives.
- Support and Guidance for Students: Career counselling and guidance: Offering suggestions on job search tactics, interview techniques, resume construction, and career options.
Organizing training sessions and workshops: To improve students’ communicative, soft, and technical abilities that apply to the labour market.
Helping students locate and land internships that complement their professional objectives is known as internship placement assistance.
- Managing the placement cycle: Ensuring a seamless and effective procedure from the first applications to the last placements.
Keeping documentation and statistics up to date: Monitoring recruitment results, student profiles, and placement statistics.
Communicating with other departments and interested parties: Collaborating with academics, former students, and other pertinent stakeholders to facilitate the placement process.
- Additional Important Duties: Getting pupils ready for hiring, giving instructions on interviewing, group discussions, and aptitude exams.

- Other Responsibilities: Alumni can be used for a variety of purposes by placement officers, most notably career development and student placement. These initiatives include planning skill-development workshops, mentorship programs, networking events, and encouraging alumni-led hiring campaigns. Alumni can also be extremely helpful in delivering career advice, sharing industry insights, and giving insightful criticism on interview and resume techniques.
Actions: Networking Events: Plan gatherings that allow current students to meet alumni, developing important business connections and possible career paths. Mentoring Programs: Using their experience to help students negotiate their career pathways, alumni are paired with students to provide career advice and support. Skill Development seminars: Make use of alumni knowledge to lead seminars on subjects including industry-specific information, interview techniques, and resume writing. Recruitment Drives Led by Alumni: Motivate former students to come back to campus to work as recruiters for their companies, giving current students direct access to employment prospects.
Career Panels and Speaker Series: Ask graduates to inspire students and offer insightful industry perspectives by sharing their professional experiences. Comments from Alumni about Interviews and Resumes: Assist students in improving their employability by facilitating mock interviews and alumni assessments of their resumes. Support for Capstone and Research Projects: Engage alumni in evaluating and commenting on research and capstone projects for students, offering practical viewpoints.
Industry-Specific Workshops and Webinars: Arrange live or virtual gatherings where alumni can impart their skills and knowledge about particular fields or technology. Alumni Mentorship Programs: Put in place initiatives where former students provide career counsel and support to current students.
