Organization Profile: The Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS) is a society registered under Act XXI of 1860 and the corresponding State Act viz. the West Bengal State Registration Act 1961, with its headquarters at 2A & 2B, Raja S. C. Mallick Road, Calcutta – 700 032, West Bengal, India. It has a Governing Council with a number of members elected or nominated and the Registrar as its Non-Member Secretary. The Council has the functions, duties and power as envisaged in the Memorandum and Bye Laws and as per the provisions of the relevant Act.

Job Title: Research Associate-I
Department: School of Physical Sciences
Research Area: Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Duration: Six months from the date of joining as RA-I / Bridge fellow, subject to an evaluation after one year as per the rules of the Institute.
Essential Qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in Physics, Nanoscience or Nanotechnology or related field with relevant research experience from a recognized University or Institute.
Candidates who have submitted the thesis and awaiting award of degree may also apply. Candidate must produce a letter from his/her Ph.D. supervisor stating that the thesis has been submitted and the final viva/defense is pending.
Desirable qualifications: Candidates with experience in Microelectronic Device Fabrication/low-temperature characterization of microelectronic devices will be preferred.
Fellowship: As per rules of the IACS.
i) A selected candidate holding a Ph.D. degree at the time of joining will receive the fellowship of the RA-I position from the date of joining.
ii) A selected candidate who is yet to receive a Ph.D. degree may join only after the submission of his/her thesis within the time-limit mentioned earlier subject to documentary proof of the thesis submission. Such candidates will draw a fellowship amount as appropriate to a bridge fellowship as per the rules of IACS and will be eligible to receive the full RA-I fellowship from the award date of the doctoral degree, supported by documentary proof.
