College Profile: The University of Kalyani was established in 1960 with a campus area of over 378 acres in Kalyani town. It is well connected by road and railway, with a railway station very close to the University. The University is situated in a locality surrounded by a rural setting within a rural backdrop and it caters mostly to the students of rural and backward areas. Yet, its distance from Kolkata is only 45 km.This locational advantage of the University makes it particularly suitable for the ‘Cafeteria Approach’ to higher education. The University ensures on the one hand, the development of excellence, and on the other, contribution of higher education through dispersion of knowledge to rural areas in an open and flexible system. The University is also considering the possibility of upgrading some of its affiliated colleges with academic autonomy and postgraduate teaching

Essential Qualification:

Professor:

a. (i) An eminent scholar having Ph.D. degree in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum of 10 (ten) research publications in the peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals and a total research score of 120 as per the criteria given in Appendix I, Table 1.
(ii) A minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in University/College as Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor, and/or research experience at equivalent level at the University/National Level Institutions with evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidates.
OR
b. An outstanding professional, having a Ph.D. degree in the relevant/allied/applied disciplines, from any academic institutions (not included in (a) above) / industry, who has made significant contribution to the knowledge in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, supported by documentary evidence provided he/she has ten years of experience.

Associate Professor
(i) A good academic record, with a Ph.D. degree in the concerned/relevant/allied disciplines.
(ii) A Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed).
(iii) A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and/or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/Industry with a minimum of seven publications in the peer reviewed or UGC-listed journals and a total research score of Seventy-five (75) as per the criteria given in Appendix I, Table 1.

Assistant Professor
a. (i) A Master’s Degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in the concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University.
(ii) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET etc. However, the exemptions in this regard are specified in Note 2.
OR
b. A Ph.D. degree obtained from a foreign University/Institution with a ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by any one of the following: (i) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Ranking(ii) The Times Higher Education (THE) Ranking or (iii) Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai).

Scale of Pay:

• Professor: BP Rs. 1,44,200/- – Rs. 2,18,200/- in Academic level 14 and other admissible allowances are as per State Government Orders.
• Associate Professor: BP Rs. 1,31,400/- – Rs. 2,17,100/- in Academic level 13A and other admissible allowances are as per State Government Orders.
• Assistant Professor: BP Rs. 57,700/- – Rs. 1,82,400/- in Academic level 10 and other admissible allowances are as per State Government Orders.
