Organization Profile: Pondicherry University also known as PU is one of the most renowned[citation needed] central universities of South India located in Kalapet, Pondicherry, Union Territory of Puducherry, India. It was established by an Act of Parliament in 1985 by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The Vice President of India is the Chancellor along with the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry acting as the Chief Rector and the President of India is the Visitor of the University.

Qualifications: 

  • As per UGC norms for appointment of Assistant Professor
  • Good Academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Master’s degree in Marine biology/Marine Sciences
  • Ph.D. in relevant Field
  • Area of Specialization
    • Physical Oceanography/Chemical Oceanography
    • Marine Biology/Marine Biotechnology

Tenure : Till the last working day of the Academic Year 2026-27 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

  • The Nature of appointment is purely Temporary.
  • The engagement of the Temporary faculty shall be for the Academic Year 2026-27 or until further orders whichever is earlier.
  • Candidates should not be in receipt of any other fellowship/scholarship/salary during the period of appointment. Full-time Ph.D. Scholars are not eligible.
