Organization Profile: Vision Research Foundation (VRF), a part of Sankara Nethralaya. It was a deep-felt realization for the need of ophthalmic research in the country that led to the conception of the Vision Research Foundation (VRF) back in 1985 to focus on the need for continuing, dedicated, India centric ophthalmic research. While clinical research was being done across the country VRF was set up to focus on basic research in ophthalmology. This started with Microbiology, Pathology, Biochemistry and Genetics but has expanded to include Molecular biology, Stem cell biology, Nanobiotechnology, Lensbiology and Bioinformatics. The foundation has about 20 scientists and 60 staff who work in close collaboration with ophthalmologists.

Research Position: Junior Research Fellow (scope for Ph.D. program)

Title of the project: Pediartic Retinal Distrophy

Sponsoring/Funding Agency: MedGenome

Essential Qualifications: MSc/Mtech (Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology) and valid UGC-NET/GATE score.

Desirable Qualifications: Research Experience in Genomics , PCR techniques, DNA/RNA Isolation, exome seq data analysis. Should be team player and work with lab members.  Evidence of scientific publications. Ability to talk to patients in Tamil/English/Hindi  will be an added advantage.

Preferable Programming Languages:  Python, R

Project Duration: 12 Months (will be continued based on performance)

Stipend: As per norms and eligibility

Job Location: Chennai
