Organization Profile: The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), Government of India, set up the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology at Jais, Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, by the Act of the Parliament. The Institute has been accorded the eminence of being an Institution of National Importance along the lines of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). The Institute is empowered to award degrees in its own right. The Institute is co-promoted as an energy domain specific institute by six leading oil public sector units (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Oil India Limited, Gail (India) Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited) in association with the Oil Industry Development Board. | Eligibility | Professors who recently superannuated from IITs. Age: Preferably less than 70 years. The aspirant must have handled administrative responsibilities like Head of the department/Dean for at least three years. |
| Duration | Initially for one year and further extendable up to one more year. However, the performance is to be reviewed annually for the continuation of engagement or for extension engagement. |
| Emoluments | Consolidated emolument of Rs. 1,50,000/- per month considering the experience and status of the person so appointed. Accommodation in the residential Apartment/ other housing as per availability on payment basis. |
| Duties & Responsibilities | A Visiting Professor will be required to teach assigned courses and take seminars or participate in such other manner as may be deemed appropriate in teaching or research or industry-institute interaction work of the Institute. | Eligibility | PhD with first class or equivalent (in terms of grades, etc) at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with very good academic record in all preceding degrees. Candidates having PhD with less than one year of post experience may apply for Post Doctoral Fellow. Candidates applying for an engineering discipline must preferably have a B. Tech degree in the relevant discipline. Age Limit: Applicants for visiting assistant professor and Post Doctoral Fellow should be less than 32 years and 30 years respectively. |
