Organization Profile:
The Government of India, through the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoP&NG), has set up Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), Jais, Uttar Pradesh on the lines of IITs under the Act of Parliament 54/2007 with an empowerment to award degrees and conduct front-end research. Institute has been granted status of “An Institution of National Importance” by the Parliament. The Institute is promoted by six leading Oil PSUs (ONGC, IOCL, OIL, GAIL, BPCL and HPCL) in India, in association with Oil Industrial Development Board (OIDB) and positioned as a “World Class” Institution. The Institute consistently features in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), Ministry of Education, Government of India. Institute offers B. Tech, M. Tech, MBA and Ph D in several disciplines from main campus at Jais.
Over the years RGIPT has expanded its presence in multiple states. RGIPT opened a centre named “Energy Institute Bengalore (EIB)” in Karnataka. EIB offers M.Tech and PhD in many disciplines.
Considering the need for quality education in North-east region, RGIPT opened Assam Energy Institute (A centre of RGIPT) at Sivasagar, Assam. The centre offers diploma engineering and Integrated Dual Degree programs in multiple branches.
