College Profile: National Institute of Technology Patna is the 18th National Institute of Technology created by the Ministry of H.R.D. Government of India after rechristening the erstwhile Bihar College of Engineering Patna on 28. 01. 2004. NIT Patna marked its humble beginning in 1886 with the establishment of pleaders survey training school which was subsequently promoted of Bihar College of Engineering Patna in 1924.

Eligibility: Distinguished experts who have made remarkable contributions in their professions (Industries and renowned R&D organizations) from various fields such as engineering, science, technology, Architecture, planning, entrepreneurship social sciences. Those who have proven expertise in their specific profession or role holding permanent post or retired, preferably at a senior level, will be eligible for Professor of Practice in the respective department of the Institute.
Professor of Practice is not open for those in teaching profession- serving or retired..

Qualification: They should have a bachelor degree in Engineering/ Architecture/ Design or
related field. In case of Sciences/ Humanities/ Management or related fields P.G. is mandatory. In all cases Ph.D. is desirable but not essential. Lack of PhD may be mapped against knowledge and deep experience.

Experience: Depending on the years of experience, the person may be offered the position of Professor/ Associate Professor of Practice. Retired persons from industry/ R&D organizations will also be considered. Experience of 10-15 years, 5-10 years is required for Professor of Practice, and Associate Professor of Practice respectively.
Selection of Professor of Practice will be made on the basis of experience and performance. Experience should be at senior management position such as CEO/CTO/VP/Director. Retired
persons will also be considered.

Duration : The Professor / Associate Professor of Practice is a contractual appointment. Initially 1 year, extendable up to 3 years or up to the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier. The extension after 1 year will be based on performance and on the recommendation of the committee.

Pay Scale:

• Professor- Rs. 1.2 Lakhs/month and monthly allowances up to Rs.20,000/- on reimbursable basis
• Associate Professor – Rs. 1 Lakh/month and monthly allowances up to Rs.20,000/- on reimbursable basis.
