Role Overview 

Director will provide academic, strategic, and operational leadership to the School of Manufacturing  Technologies. The role requires a visionary leader who can integrate advanced manufacturing  technologies with management, innovation, and industry relevance, preparing graduates to be industry ready from day one. 

Director will be responsible for curriculum leadership, faculty development, industry partnerships,  research growth, and global collaborations, with a strong focus on Industry 4.0, digital manufacturing,  and smart factory ecosystems. 

Key Responsibilities 

Academic & Curriculum Leadership 

• Lead the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of undergraduate and postgraduate  programs in Manufacturing Technologies 
• Ensure curriculum alignment with advanced manufacturing, automation, AI, and management  practices 
• Oversee implementation of core and elective modules including:
  • Design for Manufacturing
  • Automation, Robotics, PLCs, Industrial Networks
  • IIoT, Cloud & Edge Computing
  • AI & Data Analytics for Manufacturing
  • Digital Twin, Cyber-Physical Systems, MES & Cybersecurity
  • Additive Manufacturing and Advanced Materials
  • Lean Manufacturing, Operational Excellence, and Process Automation
  • Product Lifecycle Management and Project Management
  • Environmental Health, Safety, Sustainability, and Innovation

Faculty & Academic Operations 

• Recruit, mentor, and develop high-quality faculty members 
• Promote experiential, flipped-classroom, and industry-integrated teaching models
• Ensure academic governance, quality assurance, and accreditation compliance 

Industry Engagement & Employability 

• Build strong partnerships with manufacturing companies, OEMs, automation providers, and  system integrators 
• Enable industry internships, live projects, and capstone programs 
• Ensure graduates are industry-ready with strong technology and management skills, capable  of contributing to business decisions from day one

Research, Innovation & Entrepreneurship 

• Drive applied research, sponsored projects, and consultancy in smart manufacturing
• Establish and grow Centers of Excellence and advanced laboratories 
• Promote innovation, design thinking, and entrepreneurship, including startup and venture  creation support 

Strategic & Institutional Leadership 

• Provide leadership in Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing initiatives 
• Contribute to institutional strategy, growth planning, and brand positioning
• Foster global recognition through international certifications and collaborations 

Desired Profile 

• Ph.D. in Manufacturing / Mechanical / Industrial / Automation / Robotics or related disciplines
• 20+ years’ experience post Ph.D. 
• Senior academic, industry leader, or academic–industry professional with leadership  experience 
• Strong understanding of advanced manufacturing technologies and management principles
• Proven ability to lead teams, build partnerships, and scale academic programs
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
