Profile: Psychology Counselor – KLH, Hyderabad.
Overview: As a Psychology Counselor in the education industry, your primary responsibility is to provide counseling services and support to students, teachers, and staff members within the educational institution. Your role involves promoting emotional well-being, fostering a positive learning environment, and helping individuals navigate personal and academic challenges. You will work closely with students of various age groups, faculty, and parents to address psychological, emotional, and behavioral issues that may impact academic performance and overall mental health.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions with students to address their emotional, behavioral, and personal challenges.
- Utilize therapeutic techniques and active listening to support students in managing stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues.
- Assist students in developing coping strategies and problem-solving skills to enhance their academic and personal success.
- Organize and facilitate group counseling sessions on relevant topics, such as stress management, peer relationships, self-esteem, and study skills.
- Create a safe and supportive space for students to share their experiences and learn from one another.
- Respond to critical incidents and emergencies that may arise within the educational setting, providing immediate support and appropriate resources.
- Collaborate with school administrators and external agencies when necessary to ensure students receive proper care during crises.
- Conduct workshops and presentations for students, teachers, and parents on various mental health and well-being topics.
- Educate the school community on identifying signs of distress and how to access counseling services.
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff to address behavioral and emotional concerns that may arise in the classroom.
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams to develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Assess students’ mental health needs and make referrals to external mental health professionals, if required.
- Maintain appropriate records and documentation of counseling sessions and student progress.
- Adhere to ethical guidelines and maintain strict confidentiality in all counseling interactions.
- Stay informed about the latest developments in psychology and counseling to provide evidence-based services.
Applicant Profile:
- Master’s or Doctorate degree in Counseling, Psychology, Clinical Social Work or related field.
- Relevant state licensure or certification as a counselor or therapist.
- Experience in providing counseling services to students, preferably in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of developmental stages and common challenges faced by students of different age groups.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students, faculty, and parents.
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Understanding of legal and ethical issues related to counseling in an educational environment.
