IIT Hyderabad invites applications from exceptionally bright and motivated qualified Indian nationals, including Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), for faculty positions at the levels of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor in the following departments. Foreign nationals are also eligible to apply for faculty positions at all levels. However, appointments of foreign nationals will be on a contract basis for up to five years.

Organization Profile: IIT Hyderabad is part of history in the making. In January 2009, IIT Hyderabad admitted 11 PhD students. On February, 27, 2009, the foundation stone of IIT Hyderabad was laid by Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Hon’ble Chairperson of UPA. For the 2009-10 academic year, IITH will be admitting 120 B.Tech. students, 35 M.Tech. students and 10-15 Ph.D. students.

Essential Educational Qualifications: PhD with a first class or equivalent (in terms of Grades) in the preceding degree and an excellent academic record throughout.

Experience:

• Assistant Professor Grade-II: 
  • Candidates with less than 3 years of post-PhD. industrial/research/teaching experience can apply for Assistant Professor Grade-II
  • The candidates are expected to have a strong record of research publications in the journals of repute (Q1), and referred conferences (A* and A), patents, etc. For Assistant Professor Grade-II and Assistant Professor Grade-I positions, the upper age limit shall be preferably 35 years as on the closing date of the submission of applications.
• Associate Professor:
  • A minimum of 6 years’ post-PhD experience in teaching/research/industry, of which 3
    years should be at the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent in any institute in India or abroad. The candidates are expected to have a strong record of research guidance, research publications in the journals of repute (Q1), and referred conferences (A* and A), patents, etc. For Associate Professor Position, the upper age limit shall be preferably 45 years as on the closing date of the submission of applications.
• Professor: 
  • A minimum of 10 years teaching/research/professional experience after completion of
    PhD, of which at least 4 years should be at the level of Associate Professor in IITs, IISc Bangalore, IIMs, and IISERs, or foreign universities of repute. Furthermore, a candidate who is a Bhatnagar Awardee and/or a Fellow of INSA, INAE, IAS, or NASI, with an exceptional research record, is also eligible to apply.
  • The candidate should have demonstrated leadership in research in a specific area of specialization in terms of guidance of PhD students, and has a strong record of sponsored research, publications in reputed journals (Q1) and refereed conferences (A* and A), patents, laboratory/course development and other recognized relevant professional activities. For Professor Position, the upper age limit shall be preferably 55 years as on the closing date of the submission of applications.

Pay Scale:

• Assistant Professor Grade-I- As per 7th CPC, the minimum pay to be fixed at Rs.1,01,500/- (Pay Level-12) along with admissible allowances. After completion of 3 years of satisfactory service, they will be placed in pay level 13A1 subject to a positive outcome of their performance review.
• Assistant Professor Grade-II- The minimum pay to be fixed in the case of a fresh candidate with no post-PhD experience would be at Rs.98,200/- (Pay Level-10) along with admissible allowances. Once appointed in this position, the candidate will be considered for the post of Assistant Professor Grade I upon fulfilling the required work experience, subject to an internal review
• Associate Professor – As per 7th CPC, the minimum pay is to be fixed at Rs.1,39,600/- (Matrix pay level of 13A2) along with admissible allowances.
• Professor – As per 7th CPC, the minimum pay is to be fixed at Rs.1,59,100/- (Matrix pay level of 14A) along with admissible allowances.
