Organization Profile: After independence, development of the rural sector was considered the primary concern of the Government of India. In 1949, with the appointment of the Radhakrishnan University Education Commission, imparting of agricultural education through the setting up of rural universities became the focal point. Later, in 1954 an Indo-American team led by Dr. K.R. Damle, the Vice-President of ICAR, was constituted that arrived at the idea of establishing a Rural University on the land-grant pattern of USA.

Remuneration: Remuneration will be paid at the rate of Rs. 650/- per hour with a maximum of Rs. 30,000/- per month for candidates fulfilling the eligibility of Assistant Professor in the discipline of Rs. 550/- per hour with a maximum of Rs.25,000/- per month for the candidates possessing Master’s degree only in the concerned discipline OR Rs.550/- per hour with a maximum of Rs. 25,000/- per month for the candidates possessing B.F.Sc and Master’s degree in Fisheries Science.
Qualification:
1. Master’s degree with at least 60 % marks or equivalent in point grading system in subject concerned or related field with Bachelor Degree in fisheries Science. A Relaxation of 5% marks may be provided at the Graduate and Master’s level for the Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe/ Differently-abled (Physically and visually differently-abled).
2. i) The NET/ SLET will be an essential qualification ICAR/ UGC/ CSIR or any other Central/ State Govt. Agency. ii) For the candidates having Master’s degree, NET (National Eligibility Test)/ SLET shall remain compulsory along with one publication in NAAS (National Academy of Agricultural Science, New Delhi) related refereed Journal. Essentiality of NET is waived off for the candidates holding Ph.D. degree with course work along with atleast two full-length publications having a NAAS rating not less than 4, on the last date of submission of application. The candidates with a Ph.D. degree without coursework will not qualify for NET exemption.
