Essential Qualifications: [First division both in UG and PG is mandatory for eligibility] 

A.

• Engineering Departments: UG and PG degrees in Engineering with PhD in relevant branch/discipline of Engineering.
  OR
  Integrated UG and PG in Engineering and PhD in relevant branch/discipline of Engineering.
  OR
  UG in Engineering and Integrated PG & PhD in relevant branch/discipline of Engineering. For the Candidates having PhD degree in Engineering directly after graduation (B E/B Tech etc.), the candidates should have either B. E / B. Tech or PhD from CFTI. Such candidates will also be considered provided they fulfil other norms.
• Department of Physics / Chemistry: PhD with BSc (3 years/4 years) and MSc (in appropriate branch) or Integrated MSc with PhD in appropriate branch.
• Department of Mathematics & Computing: B.Tech and M.Tech in Computer Science/Information Technology/Mathematics and Computing
  OR
  B.Sc and M.Sc/Integrated M.Sc. in Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science and PhD in relevant fields mentioned as per the advertisement.
• Department of Humanities & Management: PhD in Management with any Bachelor’s degree (3/4 years) and MBA or equivalent Master’s degree in Management or equivalent PGDM (2 years) as per Association of Indian Universities, or PhD in Management with integrated Master’s degree in Management.

B.

(i) All new entrants should have PhD in the relevant or equivalent discipline and should have first class in preceding degrees. New entrant means a candidate who is not an existing faculty member of Dr B R Ambedkar NIT Jalandhar.

(ii) In case first class is not mentioned in the preceding degrees by the University/ Institution, then the candidates should have passed and secured at least 6.5 CGPA (on a 10-point scale) or 60% marks in aggregate irrespective of the category of the candidate.

(iii) Conversion from CGPA to percentage or vice versa given by individual Institute/University will not be considered / allowed for determination of eligibility.

(iv) In case, the candidate has passed and secured CGPA under any other point scale (other than 10-point scale), then the certificate issued by the authorized signatory (not the Mentor/Supervisor/Head of the Department) of the Institute/University to the effect of having secured first class in such degree must be attached. Alternately, the CGPA may be equivalently converted on 10-point scale for determination of eligibility.

(v) The above mentioned CGPA/Percentage/Degree should be awarded by a recognized University/Institute (having the authority to confer/award of such degree).

(vi) For all the above, one of the degrees at UG / PG / PhD level must have been obtained from CFTIs / Central and State Government Universities or Institutions or University / Institution listed amongst top 100 NIRF ranking of MoE, anytime.

(vii) In case the degree is obtained from any foreign Institution, the Institute should have once remained within QS / Times Higher Education (THE) ranking of 500.

(viii) Detailed educational qualification, experience and other criteria for selection to faculty positions shall be as per Schedule “E” of the First Statutes of the NIT (Amendment Statutes, 2017) (Ref. Experience:

Experience (including prior to implementation of NIRF) shall be considered if acquired in any of the following Institutions:

(i) Fully funded Central Educational Institutions.

(ii) IIMs and other Management Institutions ranked by NIRF up to 50 for any two years.

(iii) State Educational Institutions funded by respective State Government.

(iv) Other Educational Institutions ranked by NIRF up to 100 in overall, in Universities or Engineering Institutions category for any two years. In case the Institution in which the candidate is working/has worked does not fulfill the NIRF criteria, the NIRF ranking of the University to which the Institution is/was affiliated shall be considered.

(v) Experience in overseas Institutes/Universities where the QS / THE ranking is upto 500 anytime preceding the date of advertisement will be considered.

(vi) Experience as a Post-Doctoral fellow (PDF) will be considered for the appointment to the post of Assistant Professor up to Pay Level 12.

(vii) The Research experience in any of the R & D laboratories under CSIR, DRDO, DAE, DBT, DST, DSIR, ISRO, MOCIT, MOEF, MNRE, MOP, MOWR, NPL etc. will be considered.

(viii) Industrial experience in any PSU, Autonomous Organization and Private Industries having annual turnover more than Rs. 500 Crore will be considered [Supporting documents are to be provided].

• Assistant Professor (Grade-II) -Pay Level 10 of Pay Matrix (as per 7th CPC)
• Assistant Professor Pay Level 12 of Pay Matrix (as per 7th CPC)
• Associate Professor Pay Level 13A2 of Pay Matrix (as per 7th CPC)
• Professor Pay Level 14A of Pay Matrix (as per 7th CPC)

Age Limit:

Fresh appointment beyond the age of 60 years is discouraged except in the case of faculty with exceptionally brilliant research/academic career and with ongoing or approved externally funded research project(s).

Notes:
