Organization Profile: IIEST, Shibpur, is recognized as an Institute of National Importance. Established in 1856, it is India’s second-oldest engineering college. In March 2014, Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur was taken over by the Government of India and converted into an Institute of National Importance through an act of parliament and renamed as Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur.It is the first college to become the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST) in India in 2014. The Institute has a rich history. It has been empowering the nation since 1856. Considering the year of establishment, it is the third engineering college in India, but considering the year of graduation, it is the second oldest engineering college in India. The Institute has 16 departments and 8 schools, with over 250 faculty members and more than 4000 students.

Project on: Development of nano-ceramic particle-reinforced Nickel-based superalloy matrix composites through laser additive manufacturing for aerospace applications
Qualification:
- The candidates with M.Sc/M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing Science/Engineering, Material Science, Metallurgy, Aerospace, Laser Science/Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or any equivalent/relevant allied branches from a recognized University/Institute with minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale and with a GATE/ NET score are eligible to apply for the JRF positions. For SC/ST/PwD category, a minimum 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA on 10-point scale is required with a valid GATE/NET score. Candidates possessing B.Tech./B.E or an equivalent Degree in the relevant branch from a recognized University/Institute with minimum of 80% aggregate marks (8.5 CGPA on a 10 point scale) in the qualifying degree and a valid GATE score are also eligible to apply.
Desirable Qualification: Prior experience in working with Additive Manufacturing/Laser material processing/Material simulation modelling will be preferred, but not essential. Applicant have to be agile for multidisciplinary and multitasking work.
Age Limit: Maximum 35 years, (Upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/Woman and Physically handicapped candidates). In special circumstances for extraordinary candidate, this can be further relaxed.
Fellowship Scale:
- Rs. 37,000/- p.m. + Rs 11,100/- (30% HRA) = Rs 48,100/- per month
Engagement Period: Five years from the date of commencement or till the project continues whichever is earlier
