Essential Qualifications: Candidates must have a good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade) at the master’s degree level in Biotechnology from a recognized university, with a 5% relaxation for SC/ST/Physically and Visually Handicapped/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/Ph.D. degree holders who obtained their master’s degree before 19th September 1992. Candidates must also have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC/CSIR or a similar UGC-accredited test such as SLET/SET, or hold a Ph.D. degree awarded as per University Grants Commission norms. Candidates registered for the Ph.D. programme before July 11, 2009, are exempted from the NET/SLET/SET requirement, subject to fulfilment of conditions such as a regular-mode Ph.D., evaluation by at least two external examiners, an open Ph.D. viva-voce, two published research papers with at least one in a refereed journal, and at least two conference/seminar presentations, all certified by the Registrar/Dean (Academic Affairs).
