The department of commerce was later abolished and the faculty of management studies of the University of Delhi was established by Prof. A Das Gupta, of DCE. Delhi College of Engineering is thus the mother institution of a number of national projects including IITD, SPA, College of Arts and even the famous FMS.

Associate Professors and Assistant Professors who have completed 3 years of service in AGP 8000 under the 6th CPC are paid Rs. 2,250/- per hour for theory and Rs. 1,125/- per hour for lab, with the same monthly ceiling of Rs. 70,000/-. Assistant Professors not covered under the above category are paid Rs. 1,750/- per hour for theory and Rs. 875/- per hour for lab, with a maximum monthly ceiling of Rs. 52,000/-. Travelling Allowance (TA) is paid separately at Rs. 800/- for Professors and Associate Professors, and Rs. 500/- for Assistant Professors.
