Essential Qualifications: Candidates must meet any one of the following criteria:

(i) Master’s degree (M.E/M.Tech) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology, or an allied discipline from a recognized university or institute with a minimum of 60% marks (6.5 CGPA on a ten-point scale) in the qualifying degree, along with a valid GATE score.

(ii) B.E/B.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology, or an allied discipline with a minimum of 80% aggregate marks (or 8.5 CGPA on a ten-point scale) in the qualifying degree, along with a valid GATE score of at least 80 percentile. Marks relaxation for SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/DA candidates will be allowed as per Government of India norms.

Candidates who are in their final semester of the respective program may also apply; however, if selected, they will be allowed provisional admission only on production of a course completion certificate from appropriate authorities. They must submit results of the qualifying degree examinations and migration certificate (as applicable) by 30.09.2026, failing which their admission shall stand cancelled.

Desirable Qualifications: It is highly desirable that candidates have research experience in modelling, design, and control of Power Electronic Converters (mainly DC-DC and DC-AC converters), integration of renewable energy sources with the grid, and hands-on experience in developing and working on hardware or laboratory prototypes of converters. Knowledge of simulation software like MATLAB (programming/SIMULINK) is also highly desirable. Candidates must be well conversant with programming using different digital controllers like FPGA, Microcontroller, and DSP. Relevant experience of working with IoT sensors will be highly appreciated.

Job Profile: The Junior Research Fellow will be responsible for exploring the opportunities and challenges of integrating Grid Emulator with Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) and EV Battery Management Systems (BMS). The JRF will work on generating different types of cyber-attacks based on cloud-based data and through IoT sensors, and transferring the same to EVSE and Grid Emulator. Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based control will be exercised to counter cyber-attacks on Grid and EV charging infrastructures. The JRF will also contribute to developing one smart and intelligent control module that can be installed across EV charging stations.

Age Limit: Maximum 32 years as on the date of interview. Upper age limit relaxable by up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/DA candidates.

Salary Details: 1st & 2nd Year: Rs. 37,000/- per month + Rs. 11,100/- (30% HRA) = Rs. 48,100/- per month 3rd Year: Rs. 42,000/- per month + Rs. 12,600/- (30% HRA) = Rs. 54,600/- per month Medical facilities are available with the institute doctor and two hospitals.

Duration of Appointment: Initially for one year; extendable up to 3 (three) years based on performance. The position is co-terminus with the project. The selected candidate may also enrol for a Ph.D. program as per rules of IIEST Shibpur.
