Key Areas of Teaching & Expertise
- Role encompasses teaching and applied research across a broad spectrum of automotive engineering domains. - Candidate is expected to bring expertise in automotive electrical and electronic systems, as well as a strong understanding of fuels, emissions, and evolving regulatory standards. Advanced vehicle-level competencies such as vehicle dynamics, design optimization, and Noise, Vibration & Harshness (NVH) analysis are integral to the role.
- With the industry rapidly transitioning, the professor should contribute to emerging areas including hybrid and electric vehicles, ADAS and autonomous vehicle technologies, and automotive cybersecurity with a focus on functional safety.
- Role also requires engagement with automotive testing and certification practices, including engine testing, crash analysis, photometry, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). In addition, exposure to smart automotive manufacturing, mini factory concepts, and design for manufacturing (DFM I & II) is essential.
- Candidates should be able to integrate modern tools and approaches such as modelling and simulation of manufacturing systems, and the application of AI and data analytics in automotive contexts.
- Broader innovation-focused areas include new product development, product lifecycle management (PLM), and innovation and design thinking methodologies. The role also emphasizes sustainability through environmental health and safety practices, along with operational excellence driven by lean principles.
