Applications are invited from eligible Indian citizens for the position of Project Associate to work on a research project funded by the Chief Minister’s Research Grant (CMRG), Government of Tamil Nadu. The position is temporary and coterminous with the project.

Project Title: Development of a Smart Mechanical Fish Feeder for Open Sea Cage Aquaculture in Tamil Nadu, Project Reference No.: CMRG250488

Funding Agency: Chief Minister’s Research Grant (CMRG), Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai.

Name of the Host Institute:  Department of Manufacturing Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Annamalai University, Annamalainagar. Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu.

2. Position Details

• For candidates with Master’s degree in Engineering or Science:₹ 25000 per month + HRA (if applicable)

3. Essential Qualifications

Candidates must meet ONE of the following criteria:

• M.E./ M.Tech. in Manufacturing Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Robotics/ Electronics / Instrumentation with a minimum of 55% marks. (Preference will be given to M.E./M.Tech. candidates).
• M.Sc.in Physics / Electronics / Instrumentation/Marine Science with a minimum of 55% marks, provided the candidate has demonstrated aptitude for hardware and mechanical systems.

4. Desirable Skills & Experience

• Valid GATEqualification will be given strong preference.
• Prior experience in precision mechanical design, automation, or embedded systems.
• Proficiency in CAD software(e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD).
• Knowledge of microcontrollers (Arduino, Raspberry Pi)and sensors.
• Experience with 3D printingor prototyping.
• Willingness to conduct field trials in coastal/marine environments.

5. Job Description & Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and developmentof a prototype smart mechanical fish feeder.
• Work on the integration of mechanical, electronic, and control systems.
• Conduct simulations and performance analysis.
• Participate in field visits to coastal regionsfor testing and validation.
• Collect and analyze data from field trials.
• Assist the Principal Investigator in preparing reports and research papers.

6. Age Limit

• The upper age limit is [35 years]as on the date of the interview. Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates will be applicable as per Tamilnadu Government norms.
