Organization Profile: Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are autonomous public institutions of national importance for higher education in engineering, science and technology. Starting with IIT Kharagpur in 1951, there are 23 such Institutes of excellence all over India today, and IIT Palakkad belongs to this prestigious group. Celebrated as a major granary of Kerala, Palakkad is the gateway to the State from the North in the form of the nearly 40-kilometre break in the Western Ghats, called the Palakkad Gap. Essential Qualification: B.E./ B.Tech. degree in one of the following streams: Metallurgical Engineering/ Metallurgical & Materials Engineering/ Materials & Metallurgical Engineering/ Metallurgical Engineering & Materials Science/ Materials Science & Engineering/ Materials Science & Metallurgical Engineering / Materials Engineering and Ph.D. in the Metallurgy / Materials / relevant area of research, with first class or equivalent at the preceding (penultimate) degree in the appropriate branch with consistently good academic record throughout.

Experience:

• Associate Professor: At least 6 years industrial / research / teaching experience (post Ph.D.) of which at least three years should be at the level of Assistant Professor Gr. I (Pay Level 12 in 7th CPC) or equivalent. The candidate must have a proven track record of research student guidance, research publications in peer-reviewed journals/conferences, and sponsored research/consultancy projects.
• Assistant Professor Gr. I (Level 12): Candidates with at least three years (post Ph.D.) industrial / research / teaching experience will be considered for this post.
• Assistant Professor Gr. II (Level 10 and 11): Candidates with less than three years (post Ph.D.) industrial / research / teaching experience will be considered for this post.
