An institution she established with the vision “of imparting to the young the true spirit of Art, devoid of vulgarity and commercialism.” Spread over almost 100 acres by the seashore in Chennai, the Kalakshetra Foundation, as it is known today, is a vital centre for the study and performance of fine arts.

Job Title: Assistant Professor on deputation/short term contract basis

Department: Bharatanatyam

Eligibility: 

• Eminent artists/private persons fulfilling the essential qualifications as well as having the desirable qualifications, as applicable to an Lecturer (Bharatanatyam) level appointee in a Central/State Government institutions
• Lecturer (Bharatanatyam) in Central/State Government institutions holding analogous posts, or having 8 years regular service in the Pay Level 15 of Tamil Nadu Government State Pay Scales (Rs36200-114800), or equivalent level.
• Essential Qualifications: (a) Class X passed, (b) Diploma or Degree or Post Diploma holder from a recognised institution in the particular field, (c) should be able to give solo performance for about 2 hours (d) should be able to sing and conduct dance programmes by doing nattuvangam (e) should be able to take part in Kalakshetra productions (f) should be able to handle all the junior and senior level classes and theory in English (g) should have a minimum of 8 years experience in the field.
• Desirable Qualifications: (a) Knowledge of South Indian languages and Hindi (b) Ability to write music and dance notations
