Role Overview

The Centre for Advanced Computing and Artificial Intelligence (CACAI) at NAMTECH is envisioned as a hub for innovation, research, and application in advanced computing — spanning Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Data Science, and High-Performance Computing (HPC).

The Program Director / Director will lead the Centre’s strategic, academic, and research agenda, fostering collaboration between academia and industry while advancing NAMTECH’s vision of applied, interdisciplinary learning.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Academic Leadership

• Develop and lead academic and research programs in AI, ML, Data Science, and Advanced Computing.
• Forge partnerships with industry, academia, and government agencies for joint research, training, and funding opportunities.
• Define and implement the Centre’s strategic roadmap aligned with NAMTECH’s institutional goals.

Research & Innovation

• Drive high-impact research in Generative AI, Edge Computing, Data Analytics, and Applied ML.
• Mentor faculty, researchers, and students in project design, grant proposals, and
• Establish advanced infrastructure including AI labs, computing clusters, and simulation facilities.

Teaching & Mentorship

• Deliver specialized courses and workshops in AI, ML, and Computing.
• Mentor students and faculty in applied research, innovation challenges, and
• Promote interdisciplinary projects integrating AI with domains such as
  manufacturing, sustainability, robotics, and materials science.

Institutional & Industry Engagement

Represent NAMTECH at national and international AI forums and conferences.

• Build strategic partnerships with technology companies, startups, and research
• Support innovation and commercialization through the NAMTECH Innovation & Entrepreneurship Cell.

Qualifications & Experience

• Ph.D. (or Master’s with significant applied experience) in Computer Science, AI/ML, Data Science, or related field.
• 10–20 years of experience in academia, applied research, or R&D leadership.
• Proven research record with publications, patents, or industry collaborations in AI or computing domains.
• Demonstrated experience in establishing or leading research centers, laboratories, or industry-academia collaborations.
• Proficiency in Python, Tens or Flow, PyTorch, R, Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and HPC systems.
