Qualification: 

  • Assistant Professor (Engineering, Design):
    • Ph.D. degree in the relevant field with First class or equivalent at Bachelor’s and Master’s degree level in the appropriate branch as given in Table-II.
    • Note: The academic score as specified in Table-III shall be considered for shortlisting of the candidates for participation in the selection process of Assistant Professor. The final selection shall be based only on the performance in the selection process.
  • Assistant Professor (Sciences, Humanities, Arts):
    • Ph.D. degree in the relevant field with First class or equivalent at Bachelor’s and Master’s degree level in the appropriate branch as given in Table-II.
    • Qualified NET/SLET/SET*
    • Note: The academic score as specified in Table-III shall be considered for shortlisting of the candidates for participation in the selection process of Assistant Professor. The final selection shall be based only on the performance in the selection process.
      *the candidates registered for Ph.D. programme prior to July 11, 2009 shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET subject to fulfilment of following conditions:
      a) The Ph.D. degree of the candidate has been awarded in a regular mode.
      b) The Ph.D. thesis has been evaluated by at least two external examiners.
      c) An open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate has been conducted.
      d) The candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work, out of which at least one is in a refereed journal.
      e) The candidate has presented at least two papers based on his/her Ph.D. work in conferences/ seminars sponsored/ funded/ supported by the UGC/ ICSSR/CSIR or any similar agency.
      The fulfilment of these conditions is to be certified by the Registrar or the Dean (Academic Affairs) of the University concerned.
  • Associate Professor:
    • Ph.D. degree in the relevant field with First class or equivalent at Bachelor’s and Master’s degree level in the relevant branch as given in Table-II, AND
    • A minimum of eight years of experience in teaching and/or research in an academic/ research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor, AND
    • A minimum of seven publications in SCIE/SSCI/AHCI/ABDC indexed journals and a total research score of seventy-five (75) as per the criteria given in Table-IV.
  • Professor:
    • Ph.D. degree in the relevant field with First class or equivalent at Bachelor’s and Master’s degree level in the relevant branch as given in Table-II, AND
    • A minimum of ten years of teaching experience as Assistant Professor/ Associate Professor/Professor, and/or research experience at equivalent level at the University/National Level Institutions with evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidates, AND
    • A minimum of ten research publications in SCIE/SSCI/AHCI/ABDC indexed journals and a total research score of one hundred and twenty (120) as per criteria given in Table-IV.

How to Apply: 

  • The advertisement is open only for citizens of India.
  • Candidates are required to apply in the prescribed application proforma given at Annexures-I. The candidates applying for more than one post/department should submit separate application for each post/ department.
  • Candidates are required to submit a typed application proforma with complete and correct information supported by relevant documentary evidence in the form of self-attested attachments. The candidate will be solely responsible for the authenticity of the submitted information. Incomplete applications will be summarily rejected. Additional documents will not be accepted or considered by the Institute after submission of application form by the candidate.
  • The applications shall be scrutinized based on the scores filled in the summary sheet by candidate in various parameters as per Table-III and Table-IV (as applicable) given in the brochure. Therefore, documentary evidence must be submitted for all the parameters listed in Table-III and Table-IV. Accordingly, the applicants will be shortlisted for participation in the Selection Process. Mere fulfilment of the minimum qualifications or the eligibility criteria does not entitle an applicant to be necessarily considered or called for interview. The shortlisted candidates will undergo selection process comprising a seminar/sample teaching session and Interview.
  • The score claimed by the candidate will be verified by the department/institute level screening and shortlisting committee for preparing a merit list and shortlisting of applicants. No marks will be given in the absence of the documentary evidence. After verification of documentary evidence, the claimed score may decrease, but in no case the verified score will be more than the claimed score against each parameter.
  • Maximum 15 candidates will be called for interview in the order of their merit against one post and 5 more candidates will be called for every additional post under each category. Reservations will be as per the reservation roster approved by the Department of Social Welfare, Chandigarh Administration. Applicants seeking reservation benefit available for SC/OBC category must submit the necessary documents justifying the claim of respective reservation as per Govt. of India norms. The OBC (non-creamy layer) certificate issued on or after 01.04.2025, by the competent authority declared by the Government of India, will be accepted as proof in support of claim as OBC candidate. A relaxation of 5% only in the qualifying marks shall be allowed at the Bachelor’s as well as at the Master’s level for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Other Backward Classes (OBC) (Non-creamy Layer).
  • The Institute further reserves the right to amend the number of posts or not to fill any of the posts mentioned in the advertisement at its discretion without assigning any reason thereof.
  • No TA/DA will be admissible to the candidates for participation in the Selection Process.
  • The hard copy of application along with self-attested photocopies of all the documents in support of application, including proofs of the complete score claimed as per Table-III or Table-IV should reach the office of Dean Faculty Affairs, Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Sector-12, Chandigarh-160012 by speed/registered post. Name of the post and department applied for should be superscribed on the envelope used for sending the hard copy of the application.
