IIT Hyderabad invites applications from exceptionally bright and motivated qualified Indian nationals, including Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), for faculty positions at the levels of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor in the following departments. Foreign nationals are also eligible to apply for faculty positions at all levels. However, appointments of foreign nationals will be on a contract basis for up to five years.

Essential qualifications and Pay Scale: 

Essential Qualifications for all posts mentioned below: Ph.D. with a first class or equivalent in the preceding degree and an excellent academic record throughout.

The candidates are expected to have a strong record of research publications in the journals of repute (Q1), and refereed conferences (A*), patents, laboratory/course development, etc. The candidates applying for associate professor and professor positions should have demonstrated leadership in research in a specific area of specialization through sponsored research, Ph.D. guidance and global recognition.

• Assistant Professor Grade- II (Pay Level 10 or Pay Level 11): Candidates with less than 3 years of post-Ph.D. industrial/research/teaching experience can apply for Assistant Professor Grade-II. The minimum pay to be fixed in the case of a fresh candidate with no post-Ph.D. experience would be at Rs.98,200 (Pay Level-10) along with admissible allowances. Once appointed in this position, the candidate will be considered for the post of Assistant Professor Grade- I upon fulfilling the required work experience, subject to an internal review.
• Assistant Professor Grade-I (Pay Level 12): As per the 7th CPC, the minimum pay to be fixed at Rs.1,01,500/- (Pay Level-12), along with admissible allowances. After completing 3 years of satisfactory service, they will be placed in pay level 13A1.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of industrial/research/teaching experience after completion of Ph.D.
• Associate Professor: As per 7th CPC, the minimum pay is to be fixed at Rs.1,39,600/- (Matrix pay level of 13A2) along with admissible allowances.
  • Experience: A minimum of 6 years’ post-Ph.D. experience in teaching/research/industry, of which 3 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent in any institute in India or abroad.
• Professor: As per 7th CPC, the minimum pay is to be fixed at Rs.1,59,100/- (Matrix pay level of 14A) along with admissible allowances.
  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years teaching/research/professional experience after completion of Ph.D., of which at least 4 years should be at the level of Associate Professor in IITs, IISc Bangalore, IIMs, and IISERs, or foreign universities of repute.
